The focus in this public artwork is the submarine nature of Åland Islands. I want to draw attention
how important some species are for the ecosystem, working as a rainforest in Baltic Sea; hosting
innumerable species of fish and invertebrates, binding carbon and nutrients and producing oxygen.
Meadows of the Sea shows common eelgrass (Zostera marina L.) and a wide range of hosting
species of arthropods and fish.

Meadows of the Sea- is about fifty meter square public artwork is made of glass mosaic titles, 20 x
20 mm and 8 x 8 mm each. This site-specific artwork is commissioned by city of Mariehamn and
are located in bathhouse in Mariehamn.
